Research (Macbeth) Witchcraft was found in the sixteen, seventeen century. Witchcraft was often practice by old women. Other people practice to seek assistance from supernatural powers. The process of witchcraft involves prayers and serious faith. Witchcraft is often called magic, because its cause miracles. Witchcraft existed since man was born, even though it wasn’t found yet. There were many reason why witchcraft existed in the medieval times. People didn’t have as much knowledge as they do modern days. The people believe that there was no other way to solve day-to-day problems besides witchcraft. Some practitioners would go to the extreme for prayers, such as using blood. They do that to awake the evil spirits for help. After a while another belief stated to process. And witchcraft was to be decease. Everyone that believed in witchcraft or caught practicing witchcraft was sentenced to a death penalty. Their death were either by getting burned to death or lynched. People that was accused of practicing witchcraft was labeled as heretics.

Witchcraft, also known as witchery, is the use of magical faculties, most commonly for religious; divinatory or medicinal purpose. Witchcraft stated in the early human culture, and it still exist today. The concept of witchcraft as harmful and often threatened. Witches generally portrayed to be ugly old woman called hags, so the level of dislike would increase. On the other hand some witches are beautiful, gorgeous, pretty and presentable females. The word “Witchcraft” came from word “Wicca” which means the wise one. Even though witchcraft existed in the early humankind days, it wasn’t practice until 1000AD. Witchcraft was considered anti- Christianity. Witches were considered as evil and connected with the devil. It was also believed that witches were able to fly, turn invisible, able to tame black wolves, and send cats to spy on people in 1022AD. The first crusade against witches was held. Witches usually faced severe and painful death and punishments people believed that throwing water on witches to prove their innocence. A witches widely tool was a broom. The broom was used to chase the peasants, both men and women, who used them to fertilize their crops. They would ride on the top of them like horses. In some cases, the priests were genuinely concerned about the soul of the witch and burnt them alive for their salvation. The case of Joan of arc, who was late canonized as saint Joan is one of the glittering example of such acts of papal fanaticism. She was branded as a heretic or a witch and burnt alive on stakes.

Literary Analysis In the story Macbeth, Macbeth introduces an element of fantasy into the normal tragedy narrative through the characters in the witches. The witches play an important role in this story. Their role is to predict Macbeth faith, and signal the reader on what’s to come next. The witches help focus the reader on some of the darker and more sinister aspects of the story. In this story Lady Macbeth suffers none of her husband’s uncertainty. She desires the kingship for him and wants him to murder Duncan in order to obtain it. When Macbeth arrives at Inverness, she overrides all of her husband’s objections and convince him to kill the king that very night. He and Lady Macbeth plan to get Duncan’s two chamberlains drunk so they will black out; the next morning they will blame the murder on the chamberlains, who will be defenseless, as they will remember nothing.
