Although I do enjoy working for shabby chic boutique, and have been with you from the beginning, I hope you will take my suggestions seriously. As the manager of Shabby Chic Boutique, I am there 50 or so hours weekly. I have a lot of interaction with our clientel. The majority of people that come into the store have spent a decent amount of time driving around trying to find us, and it is certainly turning away business. Although we are in a crowded community, I believe we need to stand out from the rest of the buildings by painting our building, using more signs and making sure weekly emails go out to people within a ten mile radious. We have competitors close by, and unless we stand out a little more with our renovations, I’m afraid you will lose out on money, or potentially end up closing. Therefore, I have been thinking long and hard about a solution to this problem. Two possible solutions are to paint the boutique all a bright glossy blue, or a light blue with new vibrant yellow shutters. The bright blue I have picked out is called aqua marine, and the light blue as called an array of waves. The shutters would be a pretty yellow, called sunshine. The advantage of paiting the entire building aqua marine is that you could avoid putting the shutters on the building. Secondly, we need to make sure weekly emails go out to the people nearby, we are advertising and asking our clinets to tell a friend or two. In return, they will receive a 5% discount when each referral comes in. The following five criteria that I will use to measure the worth of each alternative, are as follows:
2
1) Cost- How much will it cost for each? I know you mentioned you didn’t want to spend too much money on paint, so I have done the research for you.

2) Having us stand out from competitors- It is very important for us to stand out. There is a lot of competition, and it’s impotant for the outside of a boutique to look just as nice as the inside. 3) What draws the eye?- Having done research online, looking at cometitors and talking to our clients, I have been taking notes for the past year. The two options I mentioned above are what I have come up with based on these important factors. 4) Timing- We want to make sure we don’t need to close down while the outside is being painted, so I did research on the gloss paint, as well as light blue with shutters. The timing is important, as we don’t want to disturb our shoppers. 5) What
