Customer service is the provision of service to customer before, during and after a purchase. “Customer service is a series of activities designed to enhance the level of customer satisfaction – that is, the feeling that a product or service has met the customer expectation.”
In recent years customer service has drastically decreased. Companies have tried different methods to help fix this problem however the issue still exists. As a part of good customer service it is important to know whom your customer is. When a customer feels like the staff recognizes them and appreciates their business they will come back. Another part of good customer service is having the staff that is capable of meeting the customers’ requirements and needs. When hiring new staff it is important to hire quality people. The better quality of person the better work they will produce. A worker that wants to be there will have higher results than a worker that is just there for the benefit of financial gain. Also, a worker that wants to be there will come to work ready to work. If their shift is set to start at 8pm they will be working as 8pm hits. Instead of a worker who arrives at work at 8pm for a shift that begins at 8pm and then takes 15 minutes to settle in and prepare themselves to begin working. That type of worker is unacceptable and should be disciplined accordingly. Other workers that should be disciplined are ones that ask to be clocked in even though they are not present and those that clock them in. In the restaurant business it is very important to deliver the product that the customer has ordered in a timely fashion and in the way that they have requested it.
