Diesel fuel trucks to Biodiesel Diesel engines powers the trucks that deliver products to our communities, the buses that carry people to school and work, the agricultural equipment that plants and harvests the food people consume, and the backup generators that can provide electricity during emergencies. It is also used for many other applications. Diesel engines have historically been more versatile and cheaper to run than gasoline engines or other sources of power. Unfortunately, the exhaust from these engines contains substances that can pose a risk to human health. Exposure to diesel exhaust is very common to firefighters, due to the fact that Firefighters eat and sleep in the same facility their fire trucks are stored, so exposure to diesel exhaust is highly common towards firefighters . Diesel fuel is often used because of its great fuel economy, it is the most efficient of energy dense fuels available, and has a high rating of torque, or higher power in the engine.
Biodiesel is an alternate fuel source to use in the diesel engine, and does not need a special engine just for biodiesel itself. Biodiesel is recyclable, it is made of domestic, renewable resources. Diesel fuel engine owners should switch to biodiesel fuel because the diesel exhaust causes many health problems, the cost is high, and biodiesel advantages. Vehicles that use diesel fuel release exhaust that is composed of a variety of compounds

harmful to human health and the environment. Vehicles that use diesel fuel include trucks, commercial buses, school buses and construction equipment. Gases released in diesel exhaust can include benzene, formaldehyde and other compounds that can contribute to cancer and other health problems. In addition to the gases, diesel particulate matter (DPM) is released as solid particles of many sizes and compositions. “Diesel fuel is a petroleum product that is used in diesel engines in some automobiles, generators, lightduty and heavyduty trucks, and railroad locomotives. It is a mixture of Petroleum compounds and is less expensive to produce than
Gasoline. Diesel exhaust is a mixture of gases and tiny particles. This exhaust contains carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides ,sulfur compounds , formaldehyde ,benzene ,volatile organic compounds, persistent organic pollutants (POPs), methanol, and other gases.
Greenhouse gases released by this exhaust affect climate change.” Diesel exhaust is made in the diesel engine. Diesel engine makes a significant amount of smoke when diesel engines is running without enough oxygen. Diesel soot is made from an incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons.
When the combustion is incomplete it makes a large black cloud. Soot, particularly diesel exhaust pollution
, accounts over one quarter of the overall hazardous pollution in the air.
Longterm exposure to urban air pollution containing soot increases the risk of coronary heart diseas e,that is diesel soot alone. More serious health problems such as cardiovascular disease, cardiopulmonary disease, and lung cancer. the high risk of heart disease is one cause of being exposed to diesel exhaust. Diesel engines are everywhere in the world, so most people are exposed to diesel exhaust on a nearly daily basis. The most common exposure is by breathing air that contains its gases or

its particulates. Exposure to diesel exhaust is not likely to occur through eating, drinking or skin contact. Diesel exhaust travels through the atmosphere and affect areas without obvious exhaust sources. The exhaust can last and hold in the air for long periods of time which could lead to the long exposures of industry workers and firemen. Diesel exhaust exposures have been linked with shortterm symptoms such as headache , dizziness , lightheadedness , nausea , coughing ,
