In this time and age, society has gained a massive amount of information throughout the years. As the human race evolves and grows smarter, the technology we use also progresses. With the invention of the internet, society is now capable of accessing all the information that is known to man at any moment they wish. It all started with the creation of television, radio, and printed press. Today, just about everyone has a smart phone. A smart phone of which is able to connect to any and every social media there is.
Growing up, when there was only simply television and radio, that was the only media of which I could access at my young age. But as I grew up, along side technology, the smart phones came into our lives and impressed the world. In a small portable device, you are able to access numerous apps for a variety of social medias. Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat are the three main mediums I use on a daily basis. I very rarely watch TV, however, when i do, I am generally watching SportsCenter. This is due to the fact that i am very mobile throughout my day and am generally in my home only at night.
SportsCenter is a show on ESPN of which reports sports news all day, everyday. The reason why this is the only show i watch on TV is simply because I believe that majority of content on television is scripted and fake in someway, shape, or form. So i feel as if news about my favorite teams and players are the few truthful information I can obtain through television. However SportsCenter, like many other companies, decided to take their business and exposure and expand on it. How so? With the creation of Apps for smart phones, the information becomes readily available at all times of the day rather than waiting to come across a television. There are four apps of which I cannot go a day without using - Twitter, SnapChat, Instagram, and the CNN app. Snapchat may be the least of the four of which serves as a source for information. This app simply allows one to send pictures to another for one to ten second intervals. Twitter, Instagram, and CNN, however, are my Information gold mines. Throughout my days, if any breaking news regarding just about anything happens, the first place hear it from is from my CNN app. The app sends you a notification informing you of anything within minutes of it actually happening. Then, simultaneously, on both Twitter and Instagram you will find endless amounts of people posting about the event. On Instagram one can simply post a photo or a fifteen second video, which is very limited in my eyes. People do say that, “a picture is worth a thousand words,” however on Twitter, you are only able to write 140 characters in total. But the difference between Twitter and Instagram, on Instagram people post things to gain popularity by getting the most likes. Twitter on the other hand, is much more raw. This is where people write and express their feelings with no filter whatsoever. To me it makes interaction more
