ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION
Title: Analysis of asexual reproduction
Aim: To observe the changes in plants after two weeks from asexual reproduction.
Hypothesis: I think that the vegetables and plants will continue to grow and would be even healthier without the natural habitat.
Material: As on page 210, a large onion, a potato, grass runner, leaf-stem cutting from germanium, leaf from jade plant and rooting medium.
Method: The following steps were taken; I. A gas jar was filled almost to the top with water and an onion was placed in the mouth of the gas jar so that its base was sitting in water. II. A potato was left in a dark cupboard. III. Lower leaves were removed from the leaf-stem cutting .A beaker was filled quarterly and the cuttings were placed in the water. IV. Some rooting medium was placed in a pot .Water was then added to the rooting medium until it was feeling moist. A three meter section from the leaf of the jade plant was cut. Inside the rooting medium the piece of leaf was required to be stood upright. V. A piece of the grass-runner was cut. It was ensured that the section we had cut, had at least one growing point, then a piece of the grass-runner was pressed into the rooting medium. VI. All of the plant parts were left undisturbed for two weeks; water had to be topped up over that time.
Result: As per table below;
PLANT PART | DESCRIOPTION AFTER TWO WEEKS | DIAGRAM | Onion | The new roots have formed under the onion and they are whiter in color and they look healthy | | PotatoLeaf –stem cutting | The potato is starting to grow new roots from the very edge of the potato (the plumule, radicle look pure white) and the potato is a little fatter than two weeks ago.The leaf-stem cutting plant is magically still growing in water even without any roots just like it would have grown normally and the leaves look very fresh. | | Leaf (Jade Plant) | The jade plant is marvelous….because the Jade plant is not only growing small tiny leaves on the stem without any water , sunshine or even any roots but is also

Biology Plant Reproduction Angiosperms, or flowering plants, are the most advanced form of plants. They have been around for 130 million years! We see them on grasslands and mountains, in forests and meadows, and in freshwater marshes. Angiosperms include the grains and fruits we eat along with the colorful flowers we see in a garden. In this lesson, we will look at how angiosperms reproduce. Life Cycle of Angiosperms The angiosperm life cycle begins with the development of the flower. The anthers…
limitations a moss tree face4. Mosses rely upon swimming sperm for reproduction, and swimming sperm require water for locomotion. Sufficient water for swimming is uncommon on tree trunks. Sperm have little stored energy for a long swim up a tree. Gametophytes seed/less plants5. Gametophytes of seedless plants are the larger of the two generations, are autotrophic and usually longer-lived than the sporophyte generation. Gametophytes of seed plants are the smaller of the two generations by far and are entirely…

chromista) • coenocytic filament** • some lower fungi have this • cell wall made of glucans (sugar), not chitin • only organisms that have this on test • have heterokont flagella in both gametes and zoospores (spores are asexual in reproduction and when they germinate they form something, gametes are looking for another gametes to fuse with and form a diploid individual)******** • nutrition by absorption (same as fungi) • no food vacuoles • carry out extracellular…
three stages known as the cell cycle (Figure 5.4). The stages of the cell cycle are interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. • Interphase is the stage in which cells carry out the functions necessary for survival and cells that divide prepare for reproduction. • Mitosis divides the duplicated contents of the cell’s nucleus into two equal parts. • Cytokinesis separates the two nuclei and cell contents into two daughter cells. Interphase Figure 5.4 shows that interphase is the longest stage in the…

Cloning means making an exact genetically identical copy of an organism. It's basically just another term for asexual reproduction. Cloning can also be done artifically by humans. Benefits of cloning The study of animal clones could lead to greater understanding of the development of the embryo, and of ageing and age related disorders Cloning could be used to help preserve endangered species. Concernes It's possible that cloned animals might not be as healthy as normal ones, e.g Dolly the sheep…
Science is a process of discovery about the natural world. It must be testable, requires evidence and doesn’t make moral or aesthetic judgments. Science is not provable Biology is the study of life Language of Science- Observation: Facts: Hypothesis: Proposed explanations for a narrow set of observations based on prior background information Theory: Powerful explanations for a broad range of observations, strongly supported by many different lines of evidence Ex: Evolutionary Theory, Gravitational…
