The Scientific Method

The scientific method includes six steps, which include: observation, ask a question, forming a hypothesis, predicting the outcome, the conclusion, and the results.

The six steps of the scientific method go hand in hand with one another. The observation step is when you observe that something is happening, or that there is a noticeable event that is being witnessed. The question step is when one must really figure out what the question at hand is; it explains the observation step. The hypothesis is when you form an opinion or an idea that attempts to predict the solution or the outcome. The prediction step is when you must guess as to what is going to happen if you test the hypothesis, it is an if-an statement that defines the test. The conclusion details all of the findings of the test, and what happened when we tested the hypothesis. The results are rather self-explanatory, did the results support your hypothesis, or is it time to ask another question?

Today I used the scientific method activity web link and I chose to do the car experiment. The car would not start when the keys were turned, and it was working just fine the day before, so I used the six steps of the scientific method to solve the problem. My observation, as listed above, is that the car will not start today when it was working just fine yesterday. The question at hand would be “why will the car not start?” My hypothesis is that there is an electrical problem. My prediction
