A. Problem Being Addressed: I have found that air pollution is increasing and many people are frustrated about the gas prices. My project on Solar Energy will solve that problem. I have been interested in doing a science fair project on solar energy to solve something. During the past week I learned that the gas prices have increased immensely in California up to $5.00(says http://www.californiagasprices.com/)! I also figured out the amount of air pollution emitted by cars, found from (www.cleanerandgreener.org/resources/air-pollution.html) says “Based on an average annual passenger car mileage of 12,500 miles and an average annual light truck mileage of 14,000 miles, your car emits the following pollutants: 108 pounds of hydrocarbons, 854 pounds of carbon monoxide, 55.8 pounds of oxides on nitrogen, 16,034 pounds of carbon dioxide, 813 gallons of gasoline evaporates.” Based on the knowledge I have collected, there needs to be an improvement. B. Engineering Goals: My Goals for this project is to create a better gas mileage for your car. Then get it out to a dealership, more specifically California, because of gas prices and there is a lot of sun for my solar energy product. Finally decrease the amount of air pollution to make the world cleaner. C. Procedures: Research (Steps 1, 2, 4) Math (Steps 1, 2, 3, 5, 6) Build it (Steps 7, 8, 9,10)
1. Figure out how much power it would require to run the cars electricity. 2. Figure out the minimum of batteries we can have to store the energy from the solar panel. 3. Figure out how much area we can devote for the solar panel on the roof of the car. 4. Figure out what kind of
Ionic and Metallic Bonds Ions • When a metal and a nonmetal bond, they do not share electrons. Instead one or more valence electrons transfers fro the metal atom to the nonmetal atom. • After electrons transfer the atoms bond and form a chemically stable compound. • When an atom loses or gains a valence electron it becomes an ion. • An ion is an atom that is no longer electrically neutral because it has lost or gained valence electrons. • An atom that loses valence electrons becomes an ion with…
cholera and enteric fever can also be caused by bacteria in recreational waters. Regular testing of these waters help us to prevent outbreak of these illnesses. I chose Belews Lake, High Rock Lake, Salem Lake and the Yadkin River for testing in my project. I expected to find that all of these waters would be found to be at safe bacteria levels. I researched information about bacteria levels in recreational waters all over the U.S. to see how they vary and so I would know what to expect with my…

Art: Olmec white ware "hollow baby" figurine The most recognized aspect of the Olmec civilization are the enormous helmeted heads. Once theorized to be ballplayers, it is now generally accepted that these heads are portraits of rulers, perhaps dressed as ballplayers. The heads were carved from single blocks or boulders of volcanic basalt, found in the Tuxtlas Mountains…
Sufi Annoor, Long Nguyen Dear, Nucleus We Chloroplast heard that you were firing someone and we have a couple of reasons why you should not fire us! If you fire us it would be like killing yourself, I do things that other organelles can’t do but wish they could. Extremely important we are your food source; given you are plant cells. The first and most important reason why you cannot fire us is because we are on basically on bottom of the food chain we make energy for the plants to survive. If…

How do different liquids and solids affect the boiling and freezing point of water? Name 02/12/12 ABSTRACT There are many different substances that affect the freezing and boiling points of water. This experiment was designed to test the effects of five liquid and five solid substances/mixtures on the freezing and boiling points of water. It was hypothesized that if we tested five liquid and five solid substances/mixtures then the results would show that the solids would have a greater affect…
Hakeem Stamper 12/17/11 Ms.Milkosky Biology cp 1. Introduction- This lab that me class recently did was about glucose and starch and if they are permeable or impermeable to certain liquids. This lab showed us what liquids can pass through a glucose cell or a starch cell and which ones cannot. We had to make the cells out of dialysis tubing and left them in sit in a cup of water. After one day of experimenting we look and observe to see what has happened. We then use a glucose test strip too…
A healthy environment is heavily dependent on the actions that a community takes in order to keep it in a stable state, which will ultimately affect the well being and health of the humans themselves. Humans play a significant role in the quality of the environment and atmosphere based on the actions they take each day. Depending on the actions they take, the environment and atmosphere can be affected both positively or negatively. The health of the environment and the health of living orga…
QUESTION The Birthday Paradox states that within a group of 23 randomly selected people there is a 50% chance that two of them will have the same birthday. If the same equation is used but the amount of people is doubled, will there be more than one pair of people with equal birthdays? HYPOTHESIS If the Birthday Paradox is tested with twice the people than in its original formula, the results will be true and there will be more than one date where two or more people share the same birthday.…
