I moved here from Ohio in fall of 2012 because I felt like Alabama State University was the right school for me. I enjoy living in the dorms because it has been a different experience for me and I have really met some interesting new people while living here. Being that all my family live in Ohio and I am here in Alabama alone attending Alabama State, it is more convenient for me to stay at in the on campus housing. Receiving this scholarship will help me out tremendously, because I don’t want me moving back home in Ohio to be an option for me at all. I am a first generation college student and I don’t only want to be that, I want to be the first generation college graduate. My family is so proud of my accomplishments in school and I wouldn’t want to let them down due to financial needs. I am in need of financial assistance in order to this attend college because I am a low-income student. Although my parents gave me many supports, I received a limited financial assistance due to low family income. To reduce family burden, I took I been searching for financial assistant. Meanwhile, I am working 20 hours per week on campus to support myself with food, gas, and some bills to help out my parents. However, with my increasing tuitions this year, I am facing more challenges on financial need. As I plan for this Spring of 2014 to be my last year here at Alabama State before receiving my AA in General Studies and AS in Criminal Law, I wish to spend more time on my major courses because these courses are cores of my major and crucial in my
