A. Attention Getter: Do you know someone who has difficulty concentrating, sleeping, or has intense highs and lows of feelings? These are early signs of someone with schizophrenia.
B. Introduce Topic: Schizofrenia affects about 1% of the worlds population and 10% of people who are related to someone with the disease.
C. Reason to Listen: One reason to listen would be to get to know the disease better and maybe help someone with this disorder.
D. Reason to Listen #2: I was in the hospital last semester for 26 days, no doctor knowing what had happened and ended up being diagnosed with disorganized schizophrenia a category of schizophrenia in which a person acts very childish, lacks little emotion, and is very irritable.

II. Body A. First we will start with the symptoms that begin with schizophrenia 1. According to NIMH, “schizophrenia starts with slow warning signs and changes of behavior.” 2. When schizophrenia is first diagnosed the main symptoms are difficulty focusing and concentrating, difficulty sleeping, and attitude swings. 3. As the disease wears on, the symptoms due too with, lacks of emotion, seeing or hearing things that are not there, and bizarre behaviors not present before.
Transition: Next I will talk about the treatments for someone with schizophrenia. B. Since the cause of schizophrenia is still unknown, treatments are only used for slowing down the symptoms and possibly eliminating some if not all of the symptoms. 1.
