Salma Hayek was born September 2, 1966 in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico. After seeing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in theatres, Hayek wanted to become an actress. She was sent to Academy of the Sacred Hearts in New Orleans, Louisiana, but was later expelled for setting the nuns clocks three hours backwards. She then attended Mexico City's Universidad Iberoamericana and realized she wanted to take acting seriously. She landed the main role in Theresa, a major soap opera in Mexico. She realized she would rather do movies than television shows, so she quit her soap opera show and left for Los Angeles. She didn’t have that much luck in LA. She had little parts in Street Justice, The Sinbad Show, Nurses, and she also played a maid on the HBO series Dream On. Robert Rodriguez and his wife saw Hayek on a late night television show and helped her with her career. With their help she was casted to play in Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, Fools Rush In, Breaking Up, In the Time of Butterflies, Wild Wild West, No One Writes to the Colonel, and many, many more. Salma Hayek was born in Mexico. The current Mexican president is Enrique Nieto. The type of government ran in Mexico is a federal republic. The monetary system is decimal based, with the main unit of currency is the peso. For example a cup of coffee is around five pesos. A chicken dinner is about thirty pesos. A hotel room is approximately five hundred pesos.
