Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27, 1858 in New York City, New York. He was the 26th President of the United States from September 14, 1901 to March 4, 1909. Roosevelt created something called the Roosevelt Corollary and it’s an improvement to the Monroe Doctrine. He presented this corollary in the state of the Union Address in 1904. The Monroe doctrine stated that the European countries should stay out of Latin America, and the Roosevelt Corollary stated that there should be military force’s in Latin American countries to make sure that no European country could set foot in country. Theodore Roosevelt died on January 6, 1919 due to his health, and passed away in his sleep.
John. F. Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts, U.S. He was the 35th President of the United states from January 20, 1961 to November 22, 1963. John. F. Kennedy forgot about the Monroe Doctrine while he was President but when the Cuban Missile Crisis started to occur he remembered it and he cited it, to make sure that Cuba and everybody else remember the Doctrine and know that they have to obligate it. Since JFK cited the Monroe Doctrine he used it as a justification for setting up air blockade around Cuba, and because of the Doctrine it also helped pressure the Soviet Union into taking down their Missiles that were aimed at the U.S. John. F. Kennedy died on November 22, 1963 due to an assassin and being murdered.
The Republic of Texas was annexed by the United States in 1845. In was declared to the union to be the 28th state of the U.S. The U.S first tried getting a hold of Texas in 1837, but when they thought that they would go into war with Mexico because of this, they backed out. But then in 1838 they said yes to annexation but Texas said declined. In 1843 they tried again and submitted an annexation treaty to the Senate and when it came down to the vote they lost 16 to 35. Then in 1845 both the United States and the Republic of Texas decided to say yes to the Annexation by joint resolution and Texas became a part of the U.S on December, 29, 1845.
