Romeo and Juliet Essay

A lot of things happen in life that we can’t control and that leads us to do things that we would not usually do. People change because of this and when that happens it affects the people that love and care for us. In Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare, Lord Capulet was not sure if Juliet was ready to marry. He felt furious and disappointed because Juliet won’t obey him in marrying Paris at the end. Lord Capulet thinks marriage is a very serious commitment that involves two individuals who are in love. There are different rules and regulations in marriage, but people sometimes try to change that even if they are not suppose to. Marriage is considered to be the highest from of love. “But saying o’er what I have said before: My child is yet a stranger in the world, she hath not seen the change of fourteen years.” (I, II, 7-9) When people get married they devote their life to that on special person so that they could become as one and start their new life together. Through the years people change, they could either change for the better or for the worse, it all depends on how they approach the situations they experience everyday. Everyday is a new challenge. “But woo her, gentle Paris, get her heart; my will to her consent is but a part.” (I, II, 16-17) Throughout their lives people change, which leads them to change their whole lifestyle. They become more mature and they respond differently to different situations. Everybody wants to be accepted in society, but others judge other people without even trying to know them, then they decide if they will accept them or not. This is the highest form of love that people could think of. This is a commitment that should be taken seriously. This is a bond that will last forever if they succeed. Lord Capulet knows respect is a big deal in society. People demand it but they don’t show it to others, in order to get respect they must show respect first. “But fettle your fine joints ‘gainst Thursday next to go with Paris to saint Peter’s church, or I will drag thee on a hurdle thither.” (III, V, 154-156) Respect is very valuable to
