Romeo and Juliet
Romeo's family, the Montagues, and Juliet's family, the Capulets, get into fights often. Prince Escalus has the power to prevent the two families from fighting. However, he simply threatens and does not enforce his laws. After yet another fight, he unjustly banished
Romeo causing even more problems. The Prince does not get involved with the situations occurring in his own town, leading to deaths and secretive plans which could of never happened if he took charge. Therefore, the Prince is responsible for the deaths of Romeo and
Juliet.

The first reason the Prince is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s death is because he could of and never helped with he feud between the Capulets and the Montagues. The two families hate each other and have fought many times, leading to deaths. They have always had a problem with each other and the most the Prince has done is stop a fight once but not actually solving the problem and threaten a death penalty and not fulfill it. “...If ever you disturb our streets again, your lives shall pay the forfeit of the peace.” I,1,101. The families do anything to get each other out of their presence, and if the Prince had stopped the feud, most of the other problems would have been solved or never would have happened. Also,
Romeo and Juliet would of had more contact with heir families, knowing that they wouldn’t be at a big risk getting married or professing their love. Romeo and Juliet could have been

together much easier, happier and their love couldn’t have been a secret if the Prince just did a simple action to help his community. Shouldn’t he want the best for the people of his town anyway? The Prince also banished Romeo from the town, which also helped cause the death of
Romeo and Juliet. Since Romeo was out of town, he had lost all communication with the people he needed to talk to most, like his family, Juliet, the Nurse and Friar Lawrence. The banishment caused a separation between two lovers who could not live without each other; each of them striving to get reunited, they both did what they could to see each other as soon as possible. They could only communicate by mail, as the letter from Juliet did not reach Romeo in time. This caused Romeo to not know of Friar and Juliet’s plan of faking her death in time, with ending as a result of him hearing about her real death instead of a secret plan. He rushed to find Juliet while ‘asleep’. Romeo killed himself after seeing what he thought was a tragedy in his eyes, which would of been a wondrous moment if he have never gotten banished. After Juliet saw the love of her life dead, she thought nothing but to kill herself too. If Romeo wasn’t banished from the town he would have all communication with Juliet, time to sort things out with his family and would have known when to come for
Juliet, letting them live a happy life. Juliet sacrificed her life for Romeo, with a plan that could of worked if the Prince thought his decision through instead of making an impulsive choice of kicking
