“Report on Robert Glennon’s workshop event”
On November 18, I got a chance to hear Mr. Robert Glennon, the author of Unquenchable: American’s Water Crisis, who was the last guest speaker for this year’s academic festival at Cameron University. The event was for about an hour started at 7:30 pm in Cameron Theatre, had a basic theme titled, Sustainability: Challenges and Opportunities which was hosted by Dr. John Camey, the dean of School of Business who welcomed Mr. Robert Glennon followed by his brief introduction by Amy Shelton, a senior Cameron student majoring in Business Administration. Mr. Glennon’s speech was basically focused on four major parts: America’s water use, the crisis, real and surred solution and new approach. His presentation ended with question and answer session. I was very impressed by his presentation and the way he was able to satisfy the audiences by his rational and informational response. We also had the opportunity to buy his book titled,” ‘Unquenchable: America’s Water Crisis and What to Do about It’’ at the end.
Mr. Glennon is Regents’ Professor and Morris K. Udall Professor of Law and Public Policy in the Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona. He is the author of the highly acclaimed 2002 book Water Follies: Groundwater Pumping and the Fate of America’s Fresh Waters. His latest book, “Unquenchable: America’s Water Crisis and What to Do about It” was published in April 2009. Likewise, Glennon’s other writings include pieces in The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Bloomberg Business week, The Arizona Republic and The Wall Street Journal. Similarly, he has been a guest on different TV shows including The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Talk of the Nation with Neal Conan, The Diane Rehm Show, C-SPAN2’s Book TV, and numerous National Public Radio Shows. Moreover, his speaking schedule has taken him to more than 30 states and to Switzerland, Canada, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia. Glennon has received two National Science Foundation grants and has served as an advisor to governments, law firms, corporations, and NGOs on water law and policy. He is also a regular commentator and analyst for various television and radio programs and for the print media. He is such strong profile person that it’s obvious everyone wouldn’t want to miss his speaking. I am glad that I am part of Cameron University and got a golden chance to meet his event.
