INTRODUCTION
This is about JP Morgan Chase. This was hacked by the Russian hacker, the hackers has gained all the personal information of account holders. It is not only the hacker’s access but the accounts also altered and finally deleted the information. This attack is coordinated and directed at J.P Morgan chase employees to access their databases and computers at the bank.
The experts said that they are communicating about the hackers spent a lot of time in studying and researching the banks record system. More over these hackers were able to modify the records using high level credentials and it cannot be detected. In this 76 million households and 7 million businesses are hacked in this breach of it systems at JPMorgan chase this is according to an SEC filing recorded.
This is the 11th largest breach by number of records compromised, officially at the institution. The customer accounts are safe because there are no account details and social security numbers or credit card numbers in the attack, in which it is limited to names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses and also they managed to use inter data that is related to affiliated companies that are in chase line of business.
The complete details of the breach have been disclosed when the customers found out through the line business there are similar breaches happened before in target ,home depot and T.J max there are reports that last year information of 40 million cardholder and 70 million other were stolen in target. As the similar one home depot affected 56 million cards identity is stolen. The information from these breaches is sell in the black market and the will be duplicated to obtain money.
If this information is duplicated and used through as intended credentials this could lead to a flood of scams and phishing attacks. By gaining this information they could use that and send personalized phishing attacks to these users and pretend to be from chase. Even more troubling, though, is the kind of access the attackers were able to gain on bank systems during their foray on the JPMorgan network. The bank has been mum with details about the attack; Investigations found that the attackers made their way deep into internal systems, gaining full administrative privileges on more than 90 servers, according to those sources. the hackers could use catalog the banks technologies for their future attacks such as to insert malicious code to data bases ,install back doors , to set up a office space which steals small amounts of money over a period of time . Costumers should be aware of the scam that took place because ultimately it the money of the customers that are at risk and also their personal information.
