Reflective Essay Two

The past has been just as expected for Animal Care Team (ACT). We have been moving at a seemingly fast pace, as we have already contacted organizations regarding grant applications as well as vendors regarding the much anticipated 5k road race. Each member of the team has displayed various forms of technical, human, and conceptual skills, that pooled together have shaped an excellent, well dispersed team.

A major event that has helped shape our team lies in the team contract. This contract ultimately created our team norms, roles, and ethics. The process that went into the development of this contract helped us develop a closer relationship, as we all put our own personal culture into it. This allowed us to see the standards that each team member takes into consideration. It was a real team building experience that marked the end of the forming stage and the beginning of a long but exciting road ahead.

Currently we are at the end of the norming stage and entering the performing stage. We have split in to 2 groups, one of myself and Gore, and one of Brian, Emma, and Jose. Gore and I have been working on the newsletter as well as the application process for the grants. The remaining members have been working diligently to make sure the race is set up in the best way possible. A key component to this whole project has and will continue to be Ruth, our sponsor. A key event so for was our first meeting with Ruth. Ruth gave us awareness to what Care South Coast needs help with and has provided us with contact information for people involved in our various projects. Ruth is very down to earth and considerate and realizes that as college students we have very time filled schedules. Keeping this in mind, she has joined a Facebook group we have made, that allows us to ask her questions during our allotted free times. This makes it easy, because we can write our questions when we have free time, and she can answer them when she has free time. Another key component of this Facebook group is that everyone in the group can see the questions asked and the answers Ruth provides us with. Email is great too, but only the individuals who have sent the emails can see her responses, whereas with a Facebook group we are always up to date with what’s going on.

Gore and I have sent out emails to various organizations
