It is very important to have a good quality print to introduce for evidence. If the print is not of good quality it good be thrown out of court because it wouldn’t be able to prove the suspect guilty. They have to be able to put into the computer so it can be compared to other prints to find the right suspect. If the suspect has committed another crime before they will be able to find this with his prints be added to AFIS. We have learned that fingerprints along with DNA are the most important evidence we can collect in a case. You always want to be able to produce good quality prints free of smudges and smears. Always remember to take your time when doing the prints so they can be done right. When I took my daughters prints I used the perfect elimination kit and magnifier. I took my time doing one finger at a time. I rolled her finger from one side of nail to the other pressing lightly. I then placed her finger on card rolling from left to right making sure I got the whole fingerprint. I will admit I had to do the prints three times due to her laughing because she thought it was funny for me to be doing her prints. I know if I would have submitted the first two print cards they would have not been able to be used in court due to smudges and smears. There was just to many mistakes on
