Jamaican was once a very poor country with a very low population. The island of Jamaica is located between Cayman Trench and Jamaica Channel, the main sea lanes for the Panama Canal. It’s not a very big country the populations stands at about 2,930,050 as, we speak. The Jamaican economy is heavily dependent on services, which is accounted for more than 60% of GDP in 2013. The country continues to derive most of its foreign exchange from tourism and remittance. Remittances account for nearly 15% of the GDP. Jamaica's economy faces many challenges to growth, because of high crime and corruption, large-scale unemployment and underemployment rates.
This shows the estimated unemployment rate in Jamaica and the comparison to the world which is pretty high. One of the reasons for why it’s been hard for the country of Jamaica’s GDP to rise. Jamaica was also hard hit by the effects of the global economic crisis and growth remains low. High unemployment and the crime problem, including gang violence that is fueled by the drug trade is reason why the GDP is low and is so hard to increase. The country has come to an agreement called The SIMPSON-MILLER government negotiation a new agreement to gain access to additional funds in 2013, although the deal will require the government to raise taxes and decrease public sector wages. So even though the taxes payers maybe a bit upset it’s taking out of the unemployed funds as well, which my help reason the GDP.

Instead, they're paid handsomely -- upwards of $200 for winning "Convict Poker," or $100 for successfully grabbing the chip in "Money the Hard Way."…
