Data Collection BIMS, Ballard Integrated Managed Services, Inc. is a corporation specializes in the services of food and housekeeping to corporations and institutions. The general manager, Barbara Tucker, has noticed that over the last four months the turnover rate has shot up to 64%. Not only is the turnover rate higher than usual, but also employees seemed unmotivated to do their job. There are more employees walking around doing nothing and more employees not doing their job well enough, resulting in complaints from the hospital administration in which they are working. For this type of data the mean would be most effective; this would give the company a better look at what the employee thinks about the company based on the average amount of time they have worked for BIMS. As central tendency refers to the middle of the distribution, variability is about the spread of the distribution. Variability is important because of the range of difference between the low score and the high score. The range, standard deviation, and the variance are all important parts of the variability. In the case of BMIS, if the scores are greatly different, then there will be a much larger spread within the distribution. The less difference in the scores means less variability.
