According to "Advanced Protective Services, Llc & Safe Harbor Investigations" (n.d.)“The growth of private security during the 1970s and 1980s was identified as a major source of friction between private security services and public law enforcement.” (Public Law Enforcement & Private Security).
Private Security and public policing are very similar in several ways that they share some of the same goal like preventing crime, identifying criminals, and ensuring the safety of people and their property
Private security firms have quite a bit more authority than public officers when on private property. Police are looked at as representing the city, state, or county they work for and are looked upon as having no jurisdiction. Public police are backed by the constitution whereas the private security are not. Off duty police officer are more expensive than almost two private security officers. According to "Advanced Protective Services, Llc & Safe Harbor Investigations" (n.d.), Police are not allowed to get involved in civil matter where private security operates in both realms of civil and criminal matters(Public Law Enforcement & Private Security).
Policies is the fourth major step in the plan of action. Policies are their way of handling different types of situations, and, uniformed guidelines. Equipment, supplies and maintenance is the 3rd step of the process. Which mean making sure that all the equipment is working properly, all the supplies are sufficient, making sure that if anything need fixing that it gets fixed in a timely manner.
Effective security has a lot to do with knowledge, skill and the abilities of the person who is doing the monitoring to be able to react to the security breaches and knows what to do in the situation quickly and safely. There are different ways to handle different types of situations that may arise when dealing with children than adults and learning the different strategies appropriate for that specific situation is very important because not all situations all and can be handled the same way when working with children and adults. According to our reading the Educational Program Development Professional development through appropriate training and education results in professional action. The ultimate goal of any professional development curriculum is to prepare individuals to perform well. To be effective, career education and training programs must be performance based. Participants should demonstrate real-world, integrated job skills. According to the U.S. Department of Labor Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS), superior performance requires a three-part foundation: basic skills (reading, writing, and computation, listening, and speaking); creative thinking and problem-solving skills; and personal qualities associated with responsibility, self-management, and integrity. (Ormeler, 2009)
According to our reading :The teaching and learning strategies that there are 5 good qualities to remember and they are: 1. An adult accepts the material presented based on evidence, not blind faith.
The learner must be aware of the credibility of the information and how it relates to the real world in which they operate.
2. The adult is active rather than passive during the learning process. Adults contribute thoughts and ideas and relate relevant personal experiences to the subject being taught.
3. Each adult’s individual needs must be addressed. Although experience and education levels vary, the instructor who facilitates discussions well can provide a valuable learning experience for the most knowledgeable individual. 4. Adult learners evaluate themselves. As learning progresses, individuals conduct an internal self-assessment of their understanding of the material and how it relates to their personal
De Lint, W. (2005). Public order policing: A tough act to follow? International Journal of the Sociology of Law, 33(4), 179-199. De Lint argues that Canada has developed a hybrid police form in which control and service are practiced simultaneously in morphing of intelligence-led and community policing orientation. Historically, there has been a low tolerance for public disorder and strong public support for government use of coercion in the maintenance of public civility even at the expense of…

Sir Robert Peel Policing has been a part of America for many decades. In fact, policing was known to exist prior to 1066, the year of the Normandy Invasion of Britain. Throughout the years policing has been a complicated and ongoing progress. The people of England did not have a stabilized policing standard and were often responsible for protecting and serving themselves. As early as the 1600s the Colonial America introduced the English styles of policing; citizens were responsible for…
Discussion 1- Defining Intelligence-Led Policing- Mamie Jinks Initiating in the UK, the ILD idea has its foundations in admitting that law enforcement agency divisions was devoting too much time responding to crime and less time focusing on criminals (Wells, 2009). Leach In Bury, Lancashire, on February 5, 1788, the “Father” of modern day policing was born. Through his work and studies of public service, Sir Robert Peel developed principles and policies that have impacted what is considered modern day policing. The Impact Sir Robert Peel had on American policing been very important and is used in policing today. “Sir Robert Peel served…
Community Policing For a long time there has been a love-hate relationship involving the public and the police. When called upon to assist, the police can be something heaven sent, but when the police are writing tickets, or taking a friend to jail, the view changes from a knight in shining armor to a presence that is unnecessary and often hated. An effort to improve the public view of law enforcement is being attempted by many departments in the United States. Using different styles of policing techniques…

There is, as this pamphlet seeks to set out, a legal status, being the holders of an Office, the coercive powers that come with that Office. There are also the…
