1. The Diagnostic criteria for the diagnosis of dyslexia are:
•Reading achievement substantially below that expected for the person's age, measured intelligence and age-appropriate education.
•The disturbance in reading ability interferes with academic achievement or activities of daily living that require reading skills.
•If a sensory deficit is present, the reading difficulties are in excess of those usually associated with the specific sensory deficit.

The diagnostic assessment of dyslexia consists of a series of standardized reading and spelling tests and an evaluation of the child’s psychological state, including additional information obtained from parents and teachers.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) gives civil rights protections to individuals with disabilities that are like those provided to individuals on the basis of race, sex, national origin, and religion.
