Task 1: Discuss the differences between elaborative rehearsal and Maintenance rehearsal.
If you need to remember something longer than your short term memory allows you use the process called maintenance rehearsal. Maintenance rehearsal is repeating information over and over again to keep it in your short-term memory for an extended period of time (Pastorino & Doyle-Portillo, 2012). For instance every month I have to do a report on how many patients where sent to the ER that month. So I count up the number but someone comes in my office to ask a question. I repeat the number again and again in my mind so I can input it into my report without having to count again by doing that I have refreshed by mind over and over with the information I need.
Elaborative rehearsal is forming associations or links information we are trying to learn and information already stored in our long-term memory to help facilitate the transfer of the new information into our long term memory (Pastorino & Doyle-Portillo, 2012). The first thing that comes to my mind about this process is the cars for kids commercial on the radio. I bet we all know the words and are now singing it. Sorry!!!
Task 2: Discuss in detail a plan you devise to use elaborative rehearsal to remember four new concepts you want to learn from Chapter Six. Be sure to format your submission so that the Four Concepts and the accompanying plan for each concept are clear.
I would use elaborative rehearsal to remember the concepts in the following ways:
1. To remember the three stages model of memory I would
