Prophets
God is a God of mercy and love; He is mighty to save and first to forgive people for their sins. God intended people to live by His laws, commandments and in obedience. Often, individuals fall short of the Glory of God. The Lord is kindhearted and compassionate towards His people and He pardons the sinners without a second thought. There are moments in life when God’s actions are strong and individuals think harshly about His full authority over the life of a sinner. The Lord, acts like an Earthly father and punishes us with vigor not only because He may be angry at the how people live their lives but because He loves his people enough to correct our lives. The prophet Jeremiah was a man who lived in Israel during its final days of devastation. The prophet Jeremiah was used by The Lord to bring forth a message into the land. The Lord was frequently requesting His people to stop their idolatrous actions. The Israelites were continuously hearing God’s plea to stop their behavior but they continued to ignore the Word of The Lord. Jeremiah, though a young man was able to go into the southern regions of the kingdom and beg them to stop their behavior. The southern regions consisted of the tribe of Benjamin and the tribe of Judah. Jeremiah knew what would happen if they continued to disobey God’s commandment. God’s intention was to remove them out of the land; death would come upon everyone including children and babies. The Lord was using Jeremiah as their last warning but over and over the people of the land did not want to hear what the Word of The Lord had to say. Jeremiah was filled with sadness and cried over the people of Israel, he felt alone and torn apart. "The people of Israel and Judah have done nothing but evil in my sight from their youth; indeed, the people of Israel have done nothing but arouse my anger with what their hands have made, declares the LORD (Jeremiah 32:30 NIV). God is a jealous God, He wants us to worship Him, praise Him, speak to Him and He desires us to be in a relationship with Him. “You must worship no other gods, for the LORD, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is jealous about his

Junior Theology Honors 6 February 2014 Prophets and Prophecy; Deuteronomistic History Continued 1. The Israelites do not know a lot about the word of God, but they do know that prophets serve as God’s communication channel to the Israelites. They also know that the word of God carries the reality or presence of Yahweh, has the power to bring about what it says, reveals God’s character and will, and brings life and salvation. This is related to ancient Israelite culture because it was an oral culture…

the Minor Prophets. These prophets provided insight on many issues the Jews were facing. All of the prophets had the same ideas of a warning of impending judgment because of the nations’ sinfulness, the coming judgment, a call for repentance, and a promise of future deliverance of God’s grace. Idolatry, social injustice and religious ritualism are three issues that the prophets emphasized on in their teachings and can be inspired in the minds and hearts of believers today. The prophets’ teachings…
retells of what God has done for the Israelites. Moses starts by giving the historical account of the appointment of Moses as the leader. Moses recounts the rebellion and distrust on the journey to the Promised Land. Moses reiterates the wanderings of the desert and how the Israelites defeated several city-states. Moses restates the dividing of the land. Moses retells the Ten Commandments. Moses then tells the Israelites how to love the Lord as their God, and not worship other Gods. Moses gives instruction…
fascinating account of the encounter between Naaman the Aramean and the prophet Elisha. Although Elijah is not a priest, the encounter between the two men contains many priestly elements. The account starts off with Naaman, a non-Israelite suffering from a common skin rash that was discussed at length in Leviticus 14, 15. What should be noted is that in Leviticus anyone with leprosy was considered impure and unfit to enter the presence of God, or to even be in the community. In these chapters of Leviticus…
and he was the first person to teach the idea of one God and his faith of believing in one God was tested when God commanded him to sacrifice his son Isaac and he was about to sacrifice his son when a Angle of God stopped him and from there his faith of believing in one God has been a model for the following Jewish generation. Abraham is a significant prophet in Judaism because he is considered to be the father of the Jewish race and friend of God. I would evaluate this event +2 on scale which is very…
Exodus is that of a narrative. It is the second book of the Bible and takes place a few hundred years after the deaths of the Pharaoh, Joseph, and his brothers. Feeling that they were vulnerable, the new Pharaoh embarked on a journey to repress the Israelites by forcing them into slavery. Eventually he made a law that all boys that were Hebrew would have to be killed at birth in the Nile River, to which he tried to get Shiphrah and Puah to carry out. By doing this, he would allow all Hebrew women to…

the oppression of Jacob’s descendants, the Israelites, through the Egyptians. The prophet Moses was born as an Israelite, but raised up as an Egyptian—thus leading God to communicate to Moses through a burning bush, telling him he was the one to deliver his people (the Israelites) out of bondage. Yet, Moses didn’t think he could convince Pharoah to consider the release of God’s people. God begin to give Moses signs to use to convince both the Israelites and Pharoah that this was God’s command. Moses…
