Outcome 1 – Understand principles of professional development

1.1
The important of continually improving knowledge and practice is that you can ensure that you are aware of any new relevant legislation and also you can improve the service that you provide. It also gives you the opportunity to reflect on what you are good at as well as what you are not so good at, so that you can see what areas you can improve in.

Professional development is an opportunity to reflect, share common goals, support each other as well as learn from others knowledge, expertise and experience. Regular supervision and training of staff can lead to reduced sickness and absence, it can improve the service that they

Outcome 3 – Be able to prepare a professional development plan

3.1
There are three main types of learning styles, which are auditory, visual and kinaesthetic. As we are all different we all learn in a different way, most of us would learn through a combination of styles.

• Auditory learners are those that would rather listen to things being explained to them than read. • Visual learners are those that learn best by looking at visuals, watching demonstrations or reading a guide/procedure. • Kinaesthetic learners are those that develop information best through a "hands-on" experience. Actually doing the activity can be the easiest way for them to learn how to do it.

My learning style would be a combination of kinaesthetic and visual, as I prefer to be shown how to do something and then having the opportunity to have a go. For example using computer system, I would rather be shown the basics of the software and then have a go at it myself and experiment at looking at other parts of the system and learning by having a go and trying it out. I tend not to learn much from classroom/presentation learning as I get distracted and I find that they go at a slower pace than I would usual work/learn at.
