Course Description
A precursor to the final IS/IT product development capstone course. Students research their area of interest and learn how to apply project management tools in the preliminary development process of their final project product. Grading is by H, S, or U only.

Prerequisite
CIS 420A Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to:
Demonstrate management concepts in the administration of information system functions in organizations.
Exhibit project management skills including development, planning, and budgeting of a new system.
Analyze the informational needs of an organization.
Evaluate information system strategies and policies.
Compare and contrast Information System project management methodologies.
Apply information system resource management and problem solving.

Course Requirements
Students are expected to attend all class sessions, participate in all class activities, complete exams as scheduled, and turn in all assignments on time. Failure to do so may result in the loss of points. Students are required to read their text materials in addition to relevant materials from professional periodic publications. Details of other assignments and or projects will be discussed in the class.

Grading Criteria
The course grade is based on the development of project documentation, presentations about the project, and demonstrations of the project itself. The grading for this course is by “H” (numeric score of 90% or better), “S” (70% to 89%) or “U” (69% or below). Numeric scores are determined as follows:

Deliverables 1, 4 and 6 will be graded based on preparedness and thoroughness.

Deliverables 7 (Final Project Report) must be submitted on or before 11/17. Otherwise, your team will not be allowed to make the final presentation. Your Final Project Report will be evaluated by a panel of internal and external reviewers.

Deliverable 8 (Formal Project Presentation) will also be evaluated by a panel of internal and external reviewers.

For Deliverable 9 (Peer Evaluation), each person will evaluate each of his/her team member based on the Peer Evaluation Form. Your score for deliverable 9 is 50% of the average of all the reviewers. The max score for this deliverable is 10 points. If you fail to evaluate all the members of your team, you’ll receive zero for this deliverable. Other Resources
