In September of 1787, the final draft of the new constitution was written after 4 months of debate, compromise, and controversy. There were 2 of the fifty five delegates that waked out to protest the establishments of a strong central government. Not everyone was able to agree and be happy with this new constitution, but everyone met in the middle to make it civil and not cause any more problems then there already were. The constitution, which established the government in a document, protected us, the people from harsh absolute power known as tyranny. Tyranny gave all the power to one person or group of people, which left the people with no say in the government. The constitution helped to set boundaries for the people and the governments so that no one had full power. In this document that established the government there were articles which stated the roles of the government and what the people need/have to do to keep the country civil.
There are certain powers that are shared among the central government and the state governments and that each government has on its own. This is federalism, the division between central and state governments. For tyranny to be prevented, the power to the two distinct governments needs to be divided, power division. On document A James Madison states “The different governments will each control each other; at the same time that each will be control by itself” This is saying that these two distinct governments help to control each other so that not one governments makes stupid laws that take rights awes from the people. In the vend diagram the powers that are shared are mostly about taxation and laws, these are made and agreed on by both governments. This helps to protect the people from the government from taxing them unnecessarily or making a law that takes away a right of a citizen.
In the constitution it states in Article 1, 2, and 3 that there are three different branches of government; legislative, executive, and judicable. Each branch has a different role in the government. In Article 1 Section 1 it says “All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.” This is stating the people who will be in the Congress. In Article 2 Section 1 Clause 1 it stats who will be in this branch and how they will be working with the others in their branch “The executive power shall be vested in a president of the United States. …serve together with the Vice-President, chosen for the term.” In Article 3 section 1 it also says the role of the judicial branch and who will be in the branch “The judicial power of the United States shell be invested in one Supreme Court, and in such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish.:” Each of these branches have control over themselves and have a say in that the others do also. This is stated in the constitution to protect us from tyranny and over empowerment. Each branch ensures that each of the branches does not over power the government.
Like said before in the previous paragraph, the constitution stats that there should be three branches of government; legislative, executive, and judicial. In document C James Madison stats “…the constant aim is to divide and arrange the several offices in such a manner as that may be a check on the other…. (The three branches) should not be so far separated as to have no constitutional control over each other.” This says that each branch has a say in that the other branch does but at the same time has full control of themselves and the decisions they make. In this document it also shows this triangle comparison thing that
