I am running for a second term, not only to finish what I have started in my last term but to ensure that the United States of America receives the help it deserves. We are at a time where we are a nation in progress and we are moving ever so quickly to the top and I, William Taft, will aid us to the top. Let me start by clarifying a misinterpreted situation. Firstly, I am a man of the law and believe things can and will be completed legally. Regarding the Ballinger-Pinchot affair, it should be know that Ballinger was simply following the law by pointing out that the reserved land taken in Roosevelt's term was not filed and completed correctly, quintessentially national reserved land was procured illegally. Roosevelt created the image that I fired Pinchot wrongfully and for a petty reason, but I was simply following the law, wouldn't you want an honest president? I will continue defending the average man by disassembling the corporations who have grown into monopolies and that dominate the industry. If I do not undo the wrong doing of these corporations, citizens will continue paying unfair prices and rates for necessitates. Some will call Roosevelt the “Trust Buster” while he has only filed proximity 50 in his terms, I have filed 90 suits to break down large, unfair corporations. Who would you call the true “Trust Buster”? Like I have done in my previous term, I promise to further set rates and prices from businesses that you, the people, have to use regularly. I added power to the Interstate Commerce Commission by setting railroad prices and I plan to set a rate for common communication methods, such as the telephone, as well as improving the postal service to better suit the average citizen's needs.
