Many people believe that Prejudice and Stereotype is the same, but it is clearly not. Prejudice is the act of judging someone or something based on preconceived ideas or opinions resulting in intolerance, disrespect and injustice. And Stereotype is an idea or statement based on existing actions. Currently in our society being prejudice is very usual, I think it can be lessened but not eliminated. I myself am the first one to admit that I am a prejudice person. I judge people by the way the dress; talk and look, not always in a negative way but most of the times I get a conclusion without even know them. In the 1960’s Harper Lee wrote a famous book called “to kill a mockingbird” about racial prejudice and how hard this time was for black people. Back then 70% of the African American population was under slavery being blame for almost every bad event that happened, just because they were black. Most people pre judge others against a race, white with blacks, blacks with whites, in religion, muslins with Christian and vice versa and in age, young with old or old with young. Like when The full effect of doing it occurs at a subconscious level and affects all of us; I guess we are used to think this way on our daily lives.
