Power Of Positivity When we were just innocent little kids, we played with our Barbie dolls or GI joes, with no worry in the simple little world in which we lived. As easy as life came for us during our childhood years, we all were too eager to grow up already. It is not until we finally get there and begin to emerge into adolescence or in other words developing into a teen, we begin to acknowledge that life is much more difficult than we had imagined. Goodbyes were far worse than a simple “see you tomorrow”, pressure of acceptance and rejection was now a major issue, problems were now drastically realistic, and a skinned knee was much simpler to heal than a broken heart. While undergoing new responsibilities and having to deal with potential rejection and pressure from others, growing up is not as pleasant as we had imagined. There is no denying that life comes with many obstacles, but maintaining a positive attitude makes all the difference, never letting anything bring you down or get in the way of your potential. Although we begin to understand the world around us, we are naïve towards our potential happiness and neglect to take advantage of our possibilities towards a positive and happy lifestyle. I am sure at some point we have all gone through a tough time and a friend or family member told us something similar to, “It’s not worth being upset over, everything will be okay, cheer up!” Although that is the absolute truth, it is much easier said than done. My freshman year of high school I started dating my first serious boyfriend, and embarrassingly enough, my naïve self truly believed that we were truly in love and there was no doubt we would get married. After 14 months spent together, our relationship began to fall apart as we grew tired of one another, and we ended up breaking up; in my mind, my life was over. Believing I had just lost the absolute love of my life, I had no ambition to even try and move on with my life. I let a whole summer pass by wasted on sorrow. I figured even making an effort to be happy again wasn’t worth the try. Until one day my mom gave me some words of wisdom, “Sometimes you have to stop worrying, wondering, and doubting. But have faith that things will work out, maybe not how you planned, but exactly how it’s meant to be. What’s meant to be will always find its way. Live Life as it comes.” Those few words were like a smack in the face, and really helped open up my eyes. This was not the end of the world, and I wondered how I could have been so senseless for so long. After three dreadful months of allowing myself to be miserable, I finally came to the realization that I had my whole life ahead of me, I was only 15! Life is too short to waste precious time being upset over something as completely ridiculous as a guy, especially when there’s a billion others out there! From that point forward, I never let any of life’s struggles bring me down and I kept my head held high despite any difficulties that came my way. With my moms little piece of encouragement, I came to the realization that in the end, everything will be okay, and I wouldn’t allow life to pass me by ever again. It is profoundly evident that many who sustained a positive mindset benefited greatly in living a more successful and overall happier future. Walt Disney was said to had been turned down 302 times before he became financed for the creation of Walt Disney; Albert Einstein was thought by many to possibly be mentally handicapped, but despite the discouragement of others he worked hard and proved everyone wrong and went as far as winning a Nobel Prize for his brilliance; Michael Jordan, one of the greatest basketball players of all time, was cut from his high school basketball team; but he took his failure and turned it into motivation with optimism (GetBusyLiving).
