Step 3: B

• Comment on the possible fluctuations in the amount of pollution produced by the facilities.

The pollution being produced by these facilities is rising and falling all of the time. A probabilistic risk assessment framework was developed based on a detrended fluctuation analysis to predict future respiratory virus and air pollutant associated with asthma. To study the magnitude of heavy metal pollution in the North Atlantic Refining Company, seven heavy metals including Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, Mn, Fe, and Ni were measured in duplicate from replicated water samples collected over five consecutive seasons and analyzed by Atomic Absorption Spectrometry. In situ measurements of pH were taken with the samples and total organic carbon (TOC) was analyzed by IR gas measurement. The results demonstrated that four of the seven heavy metals including Pb, Fe, Cd, and Mn exceeded permissible safe levels as established by the Canadian Environmental Protection Agency.

Step 4

• Formulate a letter to one of the industrial facilities studied in this activity. Ask them what their company is doing to cut back on harmful pollutants released into the environment. Do they have a long term plan to reduce their emissions? Is there anything you or your school could do to help?

Dear, Human resources NAR
I am writing to you today to ask about the structure of your pollution containment. Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the natural environment that cause adverse change. Pollution can take the form of chemical substances or energy, such as noise, heat or light. Are you absolutely positive that you have been able to maintain the safety of the environment of the one that surrounds the facility? I am not sure that it does given that you are the second highest polluter in Newfoundland and Labrador.
I want to educate people on how to stop pollution. I will do this by holding seminars for the public. I believe that
