Cell Phones are They Good or Bad Most people in the world owns a cell phone, even children have them. But are they really a good thing for our society? I say there are worse than good coming from cell phones. I’ve asked one of my class mates for her take on cell phones, and she thinks that cell phones are good and bad. There’s even a podcast called All Things Considered, that even take a stab at people and their cell phones. I’ll admit there are some good things about having a cell phone, like being able to make phone calls in an emergency, having a watch on you at all times, because all phones have a built in clock in them, and being able to communicate with a love one or friends when your away from your town. During my discussion with my classmate Shantel, we both’d talked about how one subject for cell phones can be good, bad, or both. Shantel brought up the question “Cell phones are great, because you have the whole world at your fingertips, so if you ever wanted to know a random question or subject then you could just look it up on your phone”, that’s when I brought up the subject about children having cell phones. It’s great to have the whole world at your fingertips but when a child has that same power there can be consequences to having the world at your fingertips. I brought up the terrorist group Isis, to Shantel asking her if she has heard of the terrible things that Isis has done. She replied by saying “yes I have, I can’t believe that they kill all those people”, that’s when I said Isis video tapes those executions and they put them on the internet, so if a child jumped on the internet and saw the terrorist group killing innocent people kids might get the wrong idea, or become confuse. Since children have a very open mind these terrible videos they can find can cause some mental disabilities like anxiety. Next Shantel and I talked about how Cell phones help people from never getting board. Shantel goes on to say how whenever she’s board she just takes out her phone to either play games or surf the internet. Well I will admit it is very addicting to surf the internet, but it really doesn’t leave much for the imagination, even in the All things Considered podcast it talks about how most great ideas are thought up when someone is board, and with a cell phone apparently nobody is ever board. Finally Shantel and I talked about the cost of having a cell phone. I brought up how people can pay up to a hundred dollars a month just to have a cell phone. Can you imagine in you put a hundred dollars away a month into your retirement or savings account, plus some banks even include a nice feature where if you put money in the bank they pay you money every year depending on
