Education in the 21st century is constantly changing and developing to meet the specific needs of our children. I have a passion for helping children be successful in all aspects of life. I sincerely want to make an encouraging impact on the future of the youth. I believe that all children can learn through differentiation and many assessment implements. I will bring a helpful attitude and give my greatest effort to inspire my students on a daily basis. The technology that our teachers have access to today is totally astonishing and I have had great experiences using several online assessment tools in the classroom. Collaborative learning has to be a part of our learning today. The social and digital media, and access to technology presents a fun opportunity for students to cooperate in an engaging and determined way.
For me being a future educator does not mean that I am only going to be there for the students academically, I will also be their for the students mentally and physically. I want my students to not only look at me as their teacher, but also as their best friend. Trust and safety are two words that I am going to live by in my classroom because if I provide a safe environment, the students will trust me. If the students trust me, they will be able to come to school everyday feeling safe, and will be able to feel safe when they tell me things because they trust me.
I trust in both formative and summative assessment to deliver feedback to the students and myself. Formative assessment will take place in my classroom the most, because it is an on going assessment. The biggest type of Formative assessment that I will use in my class is Question and Answering. This is an Informal Formative Assessment activity that will provide the students and myself feedback on the material they know. Formative Assessment will provide crucial feed back as to if our instructions are effective. This type of assessment is on going and always changing to help our students grow. As teachers we must keep learning and change instructions so each student can understand. Summative assessment at the end of term periods will measure weather students understand the information required. These assessments plans will show up on the records of the student’s and will display how much content material they understand. Summative assessment can be misleading because of test taking abilities. As an educator I will do everything possible to teach students about test taking. I want my students to be stress-free and confident when it comes to taking tests. I want them to trust their training, and have trust in themselves that they can pass this exam. Assessment should be done in a fair way, so that all students are on an even playing field. I will use many assessments ranging from observing students, to Q&A’s, to projects and also different types of tests and quizzes. Some students know the information but have trouble expressing their knowledge in certain types of assessment. As teachers we must be able to change assessments and figure out which form of assessment places students in positions to be successful.
I am motivated to use differentiation to make sure that all of my students dominate the concepts in my class. I want my students to have social skills and manners, be well-rounded people, and make smart decisions. Differentiation will help me as a teacher accomplish these by grouping my students. Grouping students with different ability levels is a great way to have your leaders come out and the shy students come out of their shells.
When it comes to my classroom I want my students to feel safe, and I also want them to trust me and other students. As teachers trust is very important, because we not only want to be educators, but also friends. We have to show the students that they can tell us anything that is on their mind, by giving them a safe classroom and showing them that
