Personal Statement Paper
First, I would like to give you a little background information about me. I am 17, multiracial (African American, Caucasian, and Native American), love sports, live for music, and fell in love with Psychology when I took the general course class with coach Dross two years ago. I am also from Taylor County, which is kind of the reason that I am not a fan of the city.
Me and My traits
Most of the time I am the kind of person who is going to be very quiet and observant in a new situation around people that I am not familiar with. This is so that I can get a feel as to who is the right crowd to hang out with, for example I don’t want to hang out with people who are going to put me in a negative spot. Even though at first I may be quiet and shelled over I am usually very outspoken and I am going to tell you how I feel regardless of what you or others think. This is not something I do intentionally to be mean or anything I just feel that you should always tell the truth no matter what. Along with that I also fall into the categories of being a book worm, athletic ( basketball, softball, flag football, boxing, and running), over sensitive when you break through what my grandma calls my version of the Berlin wall. She says this about me because she says that since my father passed I try to keep as many people as I can at a distance.
My Family and Friends
I truly can say that I have a very diverse type of family. When I say this I mean that I am not a person who a family that I can just say we are an African American family. My family is from a wide range of races, cultures, and locations throughout the United States, Latin America, and the Islands. On another topic my family on my mother's side is very different from that of my father's side of the family. They are both very supportive and are going to do whatever they need to in order to get the best results from you but they do it in totally different ways. On my father's side they just tell you how much faith they have in you and how they want you to have a bigger better life than they do. So they encourage me and my sisters to be the best student we can and we have to work hard to make our dreams come true. So in a way I feel like I'm not doing this just because I want to but because I want to be able to take care of everyone in my family so I don't have to see them struggle any more. While my mother's family support you by in a way belittling you making you want to in the end prove them wrong completely. While on the other hand when it comes to friends I do not care what you do or have done that people may not see as right if I feel like you are a good person with a genuine heart, I am going to be there for you. The way I see it nobody is perfect and I know that I'm far from it, we all make mistakes and we all wish that after this mistake has occurred we had a second chance and that's something that I firmly believe in. Most importantly I do not like hanging with females to much because of the drama, so you will see me mostly with guys, but I will give females a chance.
My Social Persona
My gender, let me think... my gender has played a great part in my how my attitude is and how my life is. The way I see it as a female you should carry yourself with some type of class, and be able to manage life as though you where the man of your house. The reason I say this is because first I do not believe in high class like my mom always says that I shouldn't use certain words such as piss, and some slang words that I use because it isn't lady like but my thing is I know when and where to act a certain way and I refuse to pretend to be this way when it makes me highly uncomfortable. Also what I mean by “manage life as though you where the man of your house” is basically you should be able to handle your own, support yourself and those dependent upon you.
