Great Move The move to the west was a great way to discover new lands, but in my opinion I don’t think there shouldn’t be a monument in honor of the people who didn’t make the move to the West. There are many reasons why and I’m going to give you the two most important ones which make me think this way. The first reason why I think they shouldn’t get a monument is because it was their own decision to try making the journey. They knew all about the dangers that the journey had in store for them such as in the story of “The Diary of a Pioneer Woman” he and her husband had a good life and they still weren’t satisfied so they left everything knowing that they would have to try to stay away from the American Indians that were furious for being kicked out of their own land, the possibility of illness, and the high chance of death by hunger, dehydration, and exhaustion. The second reason is basically that they did a horrible thing forcing the American Indians out of there home land, they were the real pioneers. There was no need of forcing them out like that we could’ve still came and lived in peace with them and made a treaty, which we did make a treaty but we violated it because we let the human nature of us out and became stingy and wanted more land. In my opinion if you know what you’re getting yourself into and you become cruel and take other people’s homes away from them and give back noting but very little a monument is not even in the picture for those people.
