Perceiving Through Their Eyes For my Ecological Perception Experience, I decided to sit under my avocado tree around 7 PM to escape the heat on August 18, 2012. Before starting this assignment, I thought that I would have trouble finding something to write about; however, within even the first five minutes of stepping outside, I found that nature was all around me if I paid attention. First, a huge fly started flying all around me; I fought the urge to swat it away so that I can watch it. It landed on the edge of the table I was sitting at, and its legs twitched furiously. I stayed as still as I could as it crept closer. Although it was too small to tell, it seemed to be watching me with its red eyes. I don’t know a lot about a fly’s anatomy, but I know they have multiple lenses in their eyes, so it was weird trying to picture how I looked to the fly. After a few minutes of watching each other, the fly tried to get on my nectarine so I reflexively lifted my hand to shoo it. I had barely moved my arm before the fly took off. I began to complain to myself that I couldn’t concentrate with these two squirrels communicating with each other in the tree. Then I realized that this is part of the assignment, and I started to pa close attention to them. One grabbed a hold of a pretty large avocado and already ate half of it. The other was jealously staring and observing the other eating, even though there was plenty more avocadoes this squirrel could have gotten for itself. After

case can we make for our bodies? Also, are our experiences illusions? Response: The brain is the center of all activity we sense and experience. Without our brain, we wouldn't be able to process and take in the sensory information from the world around us. However the case for our bodies is not entirely different. Through my education and learning so far regarding the human brain and biological psychology, I have learned that all that we sense is transmitted into the brain which then creates the image…

Morales, Alejandra Period1 TOK “My autobiography as a thinker” Do you ever wonder what type of knower you are visual, kinesthetic, or logical? Are you judgmental, extrovert, perceiving, introvert, intra-personal or interpersonal? Well, I tend to be a visual, interpersonal knower, which I think, is beneficial because you really visually see everything in the world and you learn about something specifically by actually seeing it and by communicating with others because in reality you don’t know everything…
simple life. Holden Caulfied from the novel The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger and Walter Mitty from the short story The Secret Life of Walter Mitty by James Thurber are similar in their ways of isolating themselves from others and the world around them. Holden Caulfield and Walter Mitty isolate themselves by viewing themselves as superior amongst their assumedly inferior peers, by escaping reality whenever possible, and by not maintaining healthy relationships with others. Firstly, Holden…
