PepsiCo was founded in the year 1898, by Donald Kendall, and Herman Lay. Today, PepsiCo is a $66Billion company, headquartered in New York, U.S.A, having employee strength of more than 300,000. The objectives of the company with respect to environmental issues are:
1. Protection and conservation of global water supplies, especially in water stressed areas, and also provision of access to safe and pure water.
2. Innovation in packaging to make it more sustainable, so that it has minimum impact on the environment.
3. Elimination of solid waste to landfills from their production facilities.
4. Absolute reduction of Greenhouse Gases emissions across their global business.
5. Continuous support to sustainable agriculture by sharing the best practices with their suppliers, buyers and growers.
Few points about PepsiCo are:
1. PepsiCo contributed about $ 1.8 Million, to oppose the passage of the

Ensuring that there is not empty space transported. PepsiCo allows other companies to transport their products in its vehicles at discounted rates to fill up the empty space in their containers. Also by collaborating with retail partners, PepsiCo in U.K has reduced travel by more than 3 Million Miles since 2008.
b. Introduction of electric vehicles in transportation, which reduce Greenhouse gas emissions. In U.K, PepsiCo had introduced 280 electric vehicles for transportation.
6. PepsiCo has continuously looked for alternative source of energy, for its factories. In 2014, PepsiCo launched a photovoltaic system which converts sunrays into 1.7 Megawatts of clean electricity, which is sufficient for their factory operations in Arizona.
7. PepsiCo has for long supported sustainable agricultural practices. In Brazil, PepsiCo worked for sustainable Coconut Production, by processing the minerals in the waste water so as to use them for agriculture, thereby creating employment opportunities for women too. In U.S, PepsiCo is working on the sustainable Palm Oil production.
