Abstract
The pedagogic creed, as a guide for teachers, allows for communal development and is encumbered with wonderful insight for children. Considering that Dewey states, "I believe that education is the fundamental method of social progress and reform." (Dewey, 1897) This statement infers an important message that holds as true today as it did in 1897. This statement also supports several of my personal beliefs in social interaction, early learning, early development, age appropriate skills, and the role as a teacher.

A teacher has a wonderful chance to lead students on a journey, which may influence several aspects of their lives. Of these influences social interactions are very important. The interaction with a teacher cannot be diminished, when it comes to their role. A teacher can recognize that some children come from a family with brothers and sisters and that some may not have siblings. The children who come from a larger family may develop socially more than one from a small family; therefore, helping to observe and encourage children to interact with others in their class can encourage better social development. Additionally, if a teacher can simply pair a child who is socially inclined with one who is not, it could help promote social interactions. Ultimately, my goal would be to have children develop proper social skills.

Thinking about the early years as a child and having teachers who can help nurture an age appropriate environment will enrich a child’s early years. I believe that children are our future and that any and all interaction, entrusted to our care, need to be positive and help promote their future. I know that “Dewey believed that children were valuable and that childhood was an important part of their lives.” (Davis, Andrezite, Jewski, 2009 ) I see the
