Pearl Harbor

“On Sunday, December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy, The United States was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.” President Roosevelt. Japan had been at war with China known as the Second Sino-Japanese War. Japan’s emperor conquest for eastern China raged on and would be the stepping stones for War World II in the Pacific. China endured the worst of the Japan’s army with the bombing of Shanghai and the infamous rape of Nanking, civilians and soldiers were shanghai and butchers numbers ranging from 150,000 to 300,000. China held on despite these atrocities, mostly because of American aid. Japan needed oil and felt that America was in the way of them expanding their empire eastward because of their Navy base at Pearl Harbor. Japan didn’t know it but in fact their Navy was the largest in the World. The Japans were led by Yamamoto who was brilliant in the attack on Pearl Harbor. These are some of the factors that would play such an important role in the attack on Pearl Harbor, the attack took place on a Sunday morning when preparedness levels would be lower than on a week day, inside of attacking the Philippines which would have been the most likely place Japan would have attack they sailed their feet all the way to the outskirts of the Hawaiian Islands, radio airwave was flooded with huge amounts of information coming in at over 41 an hour. He also replaced his torpedoes on this plans from weighted tailfins to wooden in order to compensate for the shallow water in the Harbor.
