The Road is a Flat country straight rural road.
1.2.1 Flexible or Rigid
1.2.2 Empirical or Mechanistic
There are two design options for Flexible Pavements:
1. Empirical Design: Bituminous layer over the granular material
2. Mechanistic Design: Pavement contains two or more layers
The Former has only one type of damage which is: deterioration of the pavement. Whereas the latter has 3 types of damages:
1. Fatigue damage to Asphalt
2. Rutting and loss of surface shape
3. Fatigue damage to cemented material
In order to reduce the damages and hence the maintenance costs, the empirical design option for flexible pavements will be chosen in our design.
1.2.3 Sprayed Seal or Asphalt Surface
The two main design options available for granular pavements are:
1. Granular Pavement with sprayed seal:
This is made up of a Subgrade, 500mm Granular base and sub-base and a bituminous seal
2. Granular Pavement with Asphalt wearing surface:
This comes in two options:
1. A subgrade with 500mm granular base and a 215mm Asphalt surface
2. A subgrade with 100mm granular base and a 240mm Asphalt surface
Before an ideal option can be chosen, the advantages and disadvantages of both surfaces will be considered:
Bituminous Seal
Advantages
1. Low cost
2. Good skid resistance
3. Good service life
Disadvantages:
1. Loose stones from compaction
2. Tracking of Bitumen onto driveways
2.1 General The literature review presents the current state of knowledge and examples of successful uses of alternative materials in concrete, and in particular the use of recycled aggregate as a coarse aggregate fraction in non-structural concrete. It also presents a review of available literature on recycled aggregate properties including particle size distribution, density and water absorption, and identifies the need to investigate porosity and possible chemical contamination of the aggregate…
you’re looking for that would get the job done really successfully. A chicken is not particular concerning previously owned materials utilized in their cages. Spend Some Time Landscaping First Secondly, make sure you invest some time landscape design the location you intend to build on. A lot of poultry coop strategies will certainly give directions on what to seek in terms of where you are to develop, so put some believed into this. You do not would like to integrated a location that is as…
Study on Properties of Pervious Concrete 1Manoj Nallanathel, 2 Ramesh Bhaskar 1Asst. Professor- Civil Engineering, Saveetha School of Engineering, Saveetha University, Chennai. 2Professor and Head – Civil Engineering, Saveetha School of Engineering , Saveetha University, Chennai Abstract— Pervious concrete is that types of concrete which allow water to sip through them or in other word we can terms this concrete as a porous concrete which show high permeability and void contents as compared to…
The concept of spatial design is relevant particularly to digital animation. Reference for spatial design decisions can be found in the values and principles of visual arts disciplines. The following paper puts forward an analysis of the design specialist option which consists of 3D Product Spatial Design, Fashion/Textiles, Theatre and Screen. The reason for choosing this specialist option will be discussed and the works of famous artists in this area will be analysed. The artists who have always…
in the modern world using integrative approaches To effect change, civil engineers require tools to identify “better” notions of design and operations Pedagogical Civil Engineers are trained in silo approaches (structures, transportation etc) Receive less training on holistic approaches Emerging problems such as climate change, sustainability, green design require multidisciplinary approaches 9 Overview of Course: Learning Objectives Motivate CEE students towards systems engineering…
The Romans had different ways of dealing with crime, depending on the severity and type committed. The first recorded Roman laws were the Twelve Tables. These were written around 450BC. Over the years, laws expanded and grew to help the safety of Roman society. Roman policing, was non-existent so often led to further violence and crime. There was no police force within the walls of Rome therefore it was within the hands of Roman citizens to catch the criminal and punish as deemed appropriate. However…
ABSTRACT In India, currently the smart city projects become a most important part of the growth for the nation, and many cities are participating in it. Smart Stormwater drainage system and its management are one of the most important aspects of the smart cities, which means to manage the surface runoff and other problems related to storm drainage network by using smart components, tools, and ideas in a system. By using smart technological tools. Hear we talk about smart city suart. It is the 8th…
LEED-SCH • LEED for Retail or LEED-R • LEED for Healthcare or LEED-HC • LEED for Homes or LEED-H • LEED for Neighborhood Development or LEED-ND Currently in LEED 2009 there are 100 possible points plus an additional six points for Innovation in Design and four points for Regional Priority. Buildings can qualify for four levels of certification. Each LEED rating system has a different number of total points so scores can be compared only within each system. However, the method for rewarding achievement…
and liberation but at the ultimate cost of his life. Mendes effectively employs a range of techniques to help convey the meaning of this film such as set design, camera angles, colour and soundtrack. Cinema often uses structured set design and camera angles to convey meaning to an audience. Throughout American Beauty, Mendesʼ use of set design and camera angles have been carefully structured to emphathise the filmʼs theme of imprisonment. In the opening scene the audienceʼs introduction to the…
STABILIZATION OF CLAYEY SOIL USING CHEMICALS Bhawna Sahay1, Prof. V.K.Arora2 ABSTRACT: Soil stabilization is a technique of enhancing the geotechnical properties and strength of soil to modify the bearing capacity and durability of weak soil. There are numerous methods of stabilising the soil such as soil replacement , grouting ,reinforcing ,chemical, mechanical, electrical method, using additives such as fly ash, rice husk, gypsum and cement. Chemical stabilization with lime and sodium hydroxide…
