Hidden Weapons Why do people own handguns? If you think it’s for the obvious reason of protection it’s not, it’s also used for crime, sport and to look macho. I believe that handguns, not all firearms, but just handguns should be banned because it’s concealable and is used for crime. Handguns also have the same intention as rifles and shotguns except rifles and shotguns are not as easy to conceal. Also handguns have been used over the past generations to kill and rob people.
Cancelability is the main reason in my eyes why handguns should be banned. Also an average of 89 firearms for every 100 residents carry handguns. That’s shows how many people actually own a handgun at home or in public and we don’t even know. There other weapons that have the same intention and can do better. If you think about it would you rather try to rob someone with a pistol or an AK47, most people wouldn’t say the pistol. I believe the main reason people wouldn’t own a handgun is because they don’t want to be seen with a gun but they also want to be protected. Although if you want to be protected, wouldn’t it be a sign to show that you are carrying a weapon. Also handguns are the most popular weapon for armed robbery, they’re easy to hide and dangerous. In the years that we have had handguns crime rates and homicide percentages have gone up a lot, this shows why handguns should be banned. Another reason is they are being sold by people on the streets, corrupting how society thinks about guns and are being used to kill innocent people.

People also like to have a feeling of being macho. In most gangs if you don’t have a weapon to back yourself up people may consider you a wimp. Most gangs use handguns because they’re concealable and dangerous. It is sad to think people who buy guns to look macho are abusing are abusing the second amendment for a fashion statement. Guns aren’t used for fashion so there should be no macho image. Also most handguns are unregistered when it comes to gang violence. It’s easy now for people to go to people who sell handguns and just buy from them. That’s also bad because then if a crime occurs with that weapon then there no way to track it back to the person who bought it. This can also be a big problem for convenient stores, almost all robbery’s consist of a handgun this is because they are a lot easier to hide and move around with then a rifle or shotgun. It’s a lot harder to find someone on the streets who sells larger weapons like rifles, machine guns and shotguns this is because there hard to transport because there not concealable like handguns. Although because people buy handguns to have this feeling that there macho because a weapon is bad because then the new generations are going to think the same thing. Kids in the future generation might think it’s cool to own a handguns but it’s not meant to look cool its meant to for protection.
Self-defense is the main reason people should own guns. Handguns also can’t protect you like a rifle or shotgun can they are a lot more protective in any situation. Although handguns aren’t going to protect your house as good as a rifle or shotgun would. A shotgun or rifle would be a lot more intimidating to an intruder then a pistol would be. Handguns are also easy to operate and if they get in the hand of a child they can be very dangerous. Children often
