CRITICAL TASK ANALYSIS Step 1: Description Pablo Picasso is a widely acknowledged Spanish artist in the twentieth century. He was born in Malaga, Spain in 1881.Cubism was the first style of abstract art which evolved at the beginning of the 20th century in response to a world that was changing with unprecedented speed. In 1909, Picasso used cubism influenced by Paul Cezanne created an artwork called “The Factory at Horta de Ebro”. The painting is a cluster of three dimensional buildings and a wide range of colour tones. In the image the foreground displays an uneven cube with a path of the tones of green blended in with the orange and creating the tones of The interpretation comes from the mind and the way that the viewer is looking at it. During this time artwork was less formal, artists got to paint what they wanted to paint because of the new technologies that were invented and everyone was interested in those electronic devices than art. Picasso created something different compared to other artworks he has created and made sure it stood out to everyone. In this painting the bright colours in the artwork are blended in with other colours and slowly it creates a dark colour and gloomy colour. The bright colours can represent his emotions and feelings while staying there and as the years go by there the dark colours start to blend in representing uncleared thoughts of sad memories. The dark colour tones are where all the mixed thoughts are doubted things that are going through his head while creating this artwork. Another way of interpreting the image is that the dark tones are the shadow from where Picasso was standing or sitting to draw the landscape from a small village called Horta de Ebro. The bright colours are where the sun is shining upon giving energy into the painting.
