1. Humans are classified like any other organism by their kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. Humans are in the kingdom Animalia. This is because we are heterotrophs and are multicellular. Humans are in the phylum Chordata. This is because we have a backbone. We belong in the class Mammalia because we give milk, have hair all over, and we give birth to offspring. We are in the order Primates because we have and opposable thumb. We are in the family, Hominidae because we are bipedal and walk on two feet. We are in the genus Homo because we are man, and the species Sapiens because we are wise. Because of all this, our scientific name is Homo sapiens. 2. Within the 3 domains, there are 7 levels of classification, within these 7 levels there are 5 kingdoms. The first kingdom is Animalia. In order to fit into this kingdom you must be multicellular and heterotrophic. This means that you don’t make your own food. Two examples of organisms who are in kingdom animalia are humans and dogs. The second kingdom is Plantae. In order to be in this one you must be multicellular and autotrophic, which means you make your own food. Plants do this in photosynthesis. Two organisms that would fit into this kingdom are trees, and sunflowers. Next, is Fungi, to be a fungi you must be multicellular and a decomposer. This means that you break down other organisms for your food. Two examples or these are mushrooms and mold. The fourth kingdom is Protista, in order to be in here you have to be unicellular and a eukaryote. Some examples are paramecium and protozoans. Finally, there are
