Claude Monet was born on November 14, 1840 in the ninth arrondissement of Paris, France (www.biography.com). He was the second son of Claude-Adolphe, a grocer and Louise-Justine Aubrée Monet, a singer. On May 20, 1841, Claude was baptized into the local church, Notre-Dame-de-Lorette as Oscar-Claude.
