Travel and Food – Water covers a major portion of the earth’s surface. For many years, the ocean and seas have provided food sources and a means of travel for humans. There is plenty of fish in the sea that offer an abundant supply of food. Most of us have had fish to eat at some point in our lives, and most of mankind will eat fish for many years to come. The seas and rivers give us an important way to travel. Years ago, men used the sea to explore the earth. Many explorers reached the undeveloped parts of the world by using ships and boats to reach new destinations. Much of our land today is influenced by the explorers from years ago who traveled the waterways on their ships. Still today, we use several waterways to send our oil tankers and container ships all over the world.

Water Shortages – When we experience a drought, we know how tough it is. The plants begin to die. Animals and humans can begin to perish. Land becomes very dry and parched. Nothing new grows. In some places, like the Sahara Desert, there is little rain and little life. No human can live there because there is not enough water. People who live around deserts know the importance of water and how precious it can be for their lives. They know how valuable water is, and they appreciate it and take care when using water. Those of us who live in a land where water is plenty do not think anything about staying in the shower for 30 minutes. Those who live in dry areas would never dream of
