The Effects Of Violent Music Content On Teens
The writer observes the effect of violent music on teenagers. Some observations draw connections between violent music and engaging in violent behavior. Children exposed to explicit musical content have been observed to encounter problems. Derogatory music has become the norm of this society but the writer questions whether or not teens have been able to fully comprehend the music that they listen to and the lyrics that are in the songs.
Many studies are introduced within the article to give more credibility towards the issue. “Studies show that the average teenager listens to approximately 40 hours of music in a given week.” The writer claims that much of modern day music amongst this generation today have references towards violence, sex, drugs, pregnancy, parties, and illegal activities. Studies show that majority of teenagers today have a high tolerance with music videos that model violent behavior. The writer uses the inductive reasoning approach to explain the premise of their argument on the troubling effects of violent music amongst teenagers and uses outside information and studies to make valid points. The writer uses what if approaches to attract the audience in putting them in the shoes of each scenario given to observe whether or not we feel violent music effects behavior and moral decisions.
