Nat Turner

‘’I am here loaded with chains, and willing to suffer the fait that awaits me said Nat Turner right before he was executed. This is how I interpret this statement. I believe he means he’s ready to fight slavery and the dangers of it are not going to hold him back. Nat Turner was born Oct 21800. He always believed he was ‘’destined for some type of marvelous purpose’’. Nat grew up as a slave. Nat believed he could end slavery with pure brutality. It was proven that he said he had a vision where white and black spirits were engaged in warfare. Also, it was said that he and seven other slaves stormed into their master’s house and murdered him and his family, then took guns and horses, which proves he is also a thief. On August 21 1831 Nat began to start what he was so called destined for. A slave rebellion. The battle spread quickly as others joined. By the second day about more than 5o whites were killed and about more than 100 blacks were killed and some of them were innocent. He was soon caught and sentenced to death. They then hung him that same day but this then disintegrated the belief that blacks would not fight for their independence.
