Need for Speed
Speeding is defined as the act or an instance of driving especially a motor vehicle faster than is allowed by law. Most traffic accidents are caused by dangerous driving habits such as speeding. All these accidents can be easily avoided if people are aware of the dangers speeding present to them and other people. It is one thing to put yourself in harm’s way, but a totally different thing if you put others at risk because of your dangerous habits. Most drivers today are too comfortable getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. Driving has become something that no one really thinks about while they are doing it. It just comes natural to most people these days. Of course there is an exception such as if someone’s life is at stake and it was either you speed to get them to the hospital or they die, then it is a reasonable excuse to disobey the law and speed. Therefore, under no circumstances is it ever right to speed unless there is a life-threatening emergency present.
Under normal, non-emergency circumstances, it is never right to speed because driving fast can kill people including the driver themselves. Traffic is the biggest single killer of 12-16 year olds. Surprisingly, at 35mph you are twice as likely to kill someone you hit as at 30mph. Faster driving gives you a shorter amount of time to react to problems and changing conditions in your path, and even a fraction of a second can mean the difference between life and death. People should drive slower for your safety and that of those around you and especially drive slower around runners, cyclists, schools, and neighborhoods with kids on the streets. If someone were driving 65 miles per hour in a residential neighbor hood it would almost be impossible to avoid a child running across the street without someone getting hurt in the process.

If caught speeding by police officers you will be cited a speeding ticket, perhaps more such as reckless driving. Traffic tickets can cost hundreds of dollars and a lot of unwanted time spent in court. Getting a speeding ticket will also alert the insurance companies and will factor in the increase in your insurance rate and any surcharges that may also be included. Speeding tickets costs vary from state to state but can range from 150 dollars to up to 400 dollars not including others charges you may be cited for such as reckless driving. No one should risk being caught for speeding because no one has money like that to just simply throw away for such an avoidable incident.
