On Mulan’s journey, she had her share of companions. Besides her mentors Mushu and Shang, there was Yao, Ling, Po, Khan and Cri-Kee. Yao was overly confident, feeling he was the best and that Mulan as Ping wasn’t at his level. Mulan bettered herself trying to help her father but also to not give Yao motive to pick on her as he normally would. There are moments in which Mulan trues to act like him to appear as a man such as the time when she sees Yao spitting. Cri-kee was gien to Mulan by her grandmother and this cricket would never be harmed, not even in the worst conditions. Mulans grandmother called it lucky. Mulan would take this cricket everywhere and it can be inferred that because of the lucky quality, Mulan had gotten through the rough times greatly. Khan is Mulan’s horse This horse served to be there for Mulan, being loyal and a shoulder to lean on when Mulan would vent her problems. These companions, regardless the fact that they are animals, they have seen Mulan grow throughout her journey. When Mulan had an idea to defeat Shan-Yu, all these companions cooperated, trusting her judgment. This was an important moment because Mulan was seen as a smart and capable women who knew how to handle situations well.
