1.1 Describe how to establish a respectful professional relationship with children and young people.

It is essential to communicate well and appropriately with both adults and children in order to build upon positive relationships within a professional environment.

Being respectful and honest and trustworthy, being polite and modelling good manners are also key communication skills: They set an example for children and young people to follow.

Communicating and behaving in a professional manner with the focus of treating people fairly to ensure people feel at ease.

Ensuring that people feel safe and at ease with you will allow people to respond to you and find you approachable. A practitioner with a positive attitude will naturally develop respectful relationships with both children and adults.

Your own actions and behaviour have an impact on others and how they view you as a person.
Children are likely to mirror your behaviour therefore the way in which you communicate and how it comes across is very important.

Communication differs from age rang and development, for example you would communicate with an adult differently than you would with a child, communication should also have to be thought about for a child for example with a different learning level to the rest of the class for that year. This would also have to be considered for children of another launage which english not being the first, disability visual impairment is another important factor to be considered. Levels of understanding are going to differentiate, where there are difficulties necessary requirements may have to be put in place to help and assist with making communication effective.
